Innovate Local: West Yorkshire – A Day of Inspiration at Production Park
Last week, I had the privilege of attending Innovate Local: West Yorkshire at Production Park in South Kirkby, Wakefield, and what an incredible day it was!
This event was packed with valuable insights, real-world case studies, and practical guidance to help small businesses embrace innovation, drive growth, and positively contribute to the economy and society.
A Day Filled with Inspiration & Insight
From the start, the energy in the room was electric. The day featured a fantastic lineup of speakers, each bringing unique perspectives on business innovation.
Whether it was discussing new funding opportunities, technological advancements, or sustainability initiatives, every session left attendees with practical ideas to take back to their businesses.
The afternoon breakout sessions provided a chance to explore various topics in more detail. They offered a opportunity to engage in discussions and hear insights from others attendees.
Both Simon Monaghan and Glyn Selway from Innovate UK Business Growth team both agreed that “Innovate Local showcased the breadth of local business talent and the resources available to support growing and innovative businesses, all delivered in the confines of the world beating facility that is Production Park.”
A Win for Diversity & Representation
A particular highlight was seeing that women were well represented at this event. It’s clear that the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and its partners are working hard to ensure diversity and inclusion in the innovation space.
It was refreshing to see such a strong presence of women-led businesses and female speakers, demonstrating the positive progress being made in the region.

Networking – The True Highlight
As with any business event, the biggest takeaway was the people. It was fantastic to catch up with old colleagues, reconnect with familiar faces from my network, and meet new contacts. Our informal chats over coffee, lunch and drinked hosted by Climb25 afterwards, sparked new ideas, potential collaborations, and exciting opportunities.
Innovate Local: West Yorkshire was a must-attend event for anyone looking to grow their business through innovation. The mix of expert speakers, valuable insights, and inspiring success stories made for an energizing and productive day.
